Sorry for the repeat, but got nothing a few weeks back, figured I would try
again:
Outlook clients, some with Office 2000, some Office 2003, both versions with
current service packs applied.
When trying to check the Public Contacts, the server connection window
(systray) shows an error. After a few moments, the users name will come up,
with a place to enter the password. This can also happen if a send/receive
window is initiated.
Nothing showing in the logs of note.
Any ideas?

This is the message when it times out:

Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x80040115) : 'The
connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be
online or connected to complete this action.'

I checked the KB on Microsoft, and while it makes references to some files
from Symantec/Veritas, and CA, I do not have the files in question on my
server.

Hi,

What do you mean by public contacts?

Global address list or a public folder with contacts?

If public folder - is there a replica of this folder on the Exchange
server - folder is not corrupt??

Sorry, yes contacts, in a Public Folder.
It does not show as corrupt in any logs, and works most times.
Thanks for the response,
John

Try copying the contacts out, deleting the folder in System Manager and
recreating.

Or run mdbvu32 against it and set the permissions and see if that helps.
