Discussion:
Mailbox move
(too old to reply)

Hello friends:

I have recently added a new Exchange Server2003 to our Administrative Group
and moved few mailboxes from another Exchange 2003 server (in the same admin
group). Even after moving the mailboxes over to the new server, the
mailboxes still exist on the old exchange with a red dot on them. I tried to
purge the mailboxes by right clicking on them, but getting error message
"the operation cannot be performed because this mailbox was already
reconnected to an existing user". Is there anyway to clean up the duplicate
mailboxes still on the old exchange server.

Thanks for your time.

how did you move the mailboxes? if you really moved them, they should not
be showing up as disconnected mailboxes on the old server...

I basically chose a group of users in AD users and computers, right
clicked-exchange tasks-move mailbox. Strange thing is these users now have a
mailbox on the new server and on the old server as well. When you look at
the user properties in the AD, it actually show that his/her mailbox is on
the new exchange server.

Thanks for your time.

that is not normal behavior...is all the mail actually in the mailboxes on
the new server? any errors during the moves?

Yes, it is not normal and no errors were reported during the move. The users
whose mailboxes were moved didn't complain about any data loss in their
mailboxes.

Thanks.

Did you refresh the Store view in ESM after you moved the mailboxes?
